I love being on the water. Many of my most treasured memories have taken place aboard ship, and by no coincidence, culinary adventures as well. Whether sitting on sunny deck with martini in hand, or hunkered down below on a stormy night with hot soup, there's something special about the combination of fresh air and open water that heightens the experience and flavors of every meal.
As a Personal Chef, I'm accustomed to creating delicious gourmet meals; however, once onboard I realized that I needed to develop recipes that would allow me more time spent enjoying the result, not on the preparation. I mean, who wants to spend hours below when life is to be lived above?
So here you are! In this blog, I'll be introducing starters, snacks, lunches, main dishes, and simple sides that are all delicious, healthy, wholesome and surprisingly easy to prepare while sailing to your next destination, or anchored in your favorite port. They are adapted for small galleys and most serve 2 people quite well. Along the way, I’ll also be including some tips on meal planning, food storage, and how to maximize your time while preserving your cash and your energy.
So, stock up the galley, get out the grill, make sure you have plenty of ice and Hendricks gin on board, and sail away! I’ll be toasting to your adventures from my own deck! Bon Voyage and Bon Apetit!
